Sony Electronics is now shipping its fourth-generation Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT-4) drives and data media in volume through the reseller channel. Based on a compact 3.5-inch drive form factor using 8mm recording media, AIT-4 offers 200 GB of native storage capacity (520GB with 2.6: 1 compression) and a native data transfer rate of 24MB/second.

AIT-4 media features an areal density of 1.17Gb/inch2, which is greater than any other magnetic tape media in the world. Freecom DataTank Gateway combines the multiple features of its predecessor, the well-known Storage Gateway, with the safety options of the DataTank. You now have access to up to 1000GB of network storage, which you can configure either as fast (RAID 0 = 1 volume) or safe (RAID 1 = mirror). On top of this, it is equipped with Gigabit Ethernet, providing the fastest possible transfer rates over the network. Create a wireless network of several PCs and connect various external devices such as USB printers and external USB hard drives to the DataTank Gateway WLAN. The DataTank Gateway WLAN also enables you to access the Internet from any PC in the network, store your website, and make the required data available online easily and quickly.
