The Nortel Networks Passport 1424T routing switch is an application-based fixed port desktop Ethernet switch that delivers enhanced network performance, simplicity, and flexibility required by today's bandwidth-sensitive applications. Simple to install and maintain, the Passport 1424T combines network core routing features with wiring closet type efficiency. Twenty-four 10/100 Ethernet ports and two GBIC slots combine to provide connectivity for workgroups, servers, and switches in a 1U high solution. Wire-speed routing and a non-blocking architecture provide the performance required by today's bandwidth-sensitive applications. For applications that are more sensitive to network jitter and delay, four priority queues - with support for 802.1p and DiffServ - provide Qualtiy of Service within the network.

This module is specifically targeted at building cost-effective Gigabit Ethernet server farms, rather than backbone switch-to-switch applications. It provides two dedicated Gigabit Ethernet uplinks, as well as up to 16 ports per module for high-performance Gigabit Ethernet server connectivity. The 16 server ports can burst to Gigabit Ethernet line rate, and share 8 Gbps of full duplex bandwidth into the switching fabric. Since all ports use GBICs, the amount of oversubscription can be controlled simply by varying the number of GBICs used. The server ports use the standard IEEE 802.3x flow control (PAUSE frame) mechanism to control Gigabit Ethernet host traffic.

This module is designed for the Catalyst 4000 series that provides an advanced high-performance enterprise switching solution optimized for wiring closets with up to 96 users and data center server environments that require up to 36 Gigabit Ethernet ports.

Designed for basic data protection, the HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader provides cost-effective, easy-to-install unattended backup. In a rack or on a desktop, it provides up to 6.4 TB of compressed storage capacity in a compact 1U form factor. The 1/8 G2 can hold up to eight data cartridges to accommodate a week's worth of backup. In order to easily manage your media, standard features include a bar code reader and two removable 4-slot magazines.
